Terms of Service
1. The service
ShareDrop.org provides browser-based, session-oriented file transfer between two devices using WebRTC. Files are exchanged directly between the participating browsers (directly or via an encrypted relay); ShareDrop.org does not store transferred files and provides no hosting, backup or archival function.
2. Acceptable use
You may only use the service in compliance with applicable law and the Acceptable Use Policy below, which is part of these terms. You are solely responsible for the content you transfer and for having the rights to transfer it.
3. No warranty
The service is provided “as is” and “as available”. We do not warrant uninterrupted availability, that every network permits a connection, or fitness for a particular purpose. Integrity verification (SHA-256) reports whether a file arrived intact; it is not a warranty about the content itself.
4. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, ShareDrop.org and its operators are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, loss of data, or loss of profits arising from use of the service. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
5. Abuse prevention and termination
We may rate-limit, suspend or block usage that threatens the service or other users, including violations of the Acceptable Use Policy, automated abuse, or attacks on our infrastructure. Because the service is session-based and account-free, blocking is typically technical (e.g. by network origin) rather than account-based.
6. Intellectual property
The ShareDrop.org name, this website and the application are protected by applicable intellectual property laws. Transferred content remains yours; we claim no rights to it and, by design, never possess it.
7. Changes; governing law
We may modify the service and these terms; material changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. These terms are governed by applicable mandatory law, without prejudice to the consumer protections of your place of residence. The operator is the ShareDrop.org team (see the About page). Acceptable Use Policy
ShareDrop.org transfers files directly between two consenting devices. That design leaves little room for abuse of others — but not none. You must not use the service to:
- Transfer content that is illegal under applicable law, including child sexual abuse material (zero tolerance; reported to relevant authorities where required);
- Infringe intellectual property rights of others;
- Distribute malware or facilitate unauthorized access to systems or data;
- Harass, threaten or defraud others, including sending files to recipients obtained deceptively;
- Probe, overload or attack the service itself, including credential brute-forcing, relay bandwidth abuse, or use of the infrastructure as a general-purpose proxy;
- Evade technical restrictions (rate limits, room expiry, single-use codes).
Violations may result in technical blocking. Where the law requires, we cooperate with competent authorities — noting that, by design, we hold no transferred content and minimal session metadata.
Abuse and copyright reporting
Report misuse of the service to [email protected]. Include what you observed, when, and any technical details (links, screenshots, network information). We acknowledge reports and investigate in good faith.
What we can and cannot act on: ShareDrop.org stores no transferred files and keeps no transfer history — there is no hosted content for us to take down. What we can do is act against ongoing technical abuse of our infrastructure (e.g. blocking abusive network origins, revoking active sessions) and preserve the minimal session metadata we hold when validly required by law.
Copyright: because no content is hosted, traditional takedown of stored material does not apply. If you believe our service is being used systematically to infringe your rights, contact [email protected] with sufficient detail for us to evaluate technical countermeasures; where a legal notice regime (such as the DMCA) applies to us, notices to the same address will be processed accordingly.
